Garage Door Installation

Why homeowners replace a garage door

The garage door is the largest single surface on the front of most South Florida homes, and it is the one that takes the sun, the rain and the humidity directly. A door that has faded, cracked, delaminated or been repaired repeatedly says more about a house than any other element.

  • Improved kerb appeal on a facade the whole street sees
  • Modern door styles, materials and finish options
  • Better operation with correct balance and modern hardware
  • Improved security with a properly sealing, solid door
  • Compatibility with current smart openers and remotes
  • Replacing old or damaged doors that can no longer be matched or repaired

What's involved in a replacement

A replacement is more than swapping a panel. The door, the springs, the track, the rollers and the opener all have to work as one system, and the installation is where that either happens or does not.

  • Measure the opening, headroom, backroom and side clearance
  • Specify the door, spring system and opener to suit the door weight
  • Remove and dispose of the existing door and hardware
  • Install, align and balance the new door on new track and rollers
  • Test the counterbalance, the travel limits and the safety reversal

It has to fit your opening, not a template

Older South Florida garages are not uniform. Headroom above the opening, the depth of the garage and the width of the returns all vary, and they determine which spring system and which opener can be used. We survey the opening before specifying anything, because a door specified from a house number alone is a door that will not balance.

South Florida considerations

Heat, humidity, salt air near the coast and heavy summer rain shorten the life of standard hardware. For coastal properties we discuss hardware finishes and components that hold up better in salt air. Where a property needs a door with a specific Florida product approval, appropriate rated options can be discussed depending on the property and the product selected — approvals are product and installation specific, so we confirm them for the exact door rather than making a general claim.

Door styles

Three directions, specified to your opening

The style is the visible choice; the spring system and opener behind it are the ones that decide whether the door runs properly for years.

Our process

Garage door service made simple

Four steps, no guesswork, and a clear explanation before any work starts.

  1. Contact us

Call or request service online. Tell us what the door is doing and where you are — that is enough to get started.

  2. Diagnose the problem

A technician evaluates the garage door, the opener and the affected components, including the counterbalance and safety system.

  3. Review the repair

We explain the recommended solution and the cost before work begins, and what happens if a part has to be ordered.

  4. Repair and test

The work is completed, then the door is balanced and cycled to verify safe, quiet operation from the wall control and the remote.

FAQ

Garage Door Installation — common questions

How long does a garage door installation take?
A standard single or two-car residential door is normally a single-day installation, including removal and disposal of the old door, once the door has arrived and the opening has been surveyed. Larger, non-standard or full-view doors can take longer, and we give you a realistic schedule before you commit.
Do you remove and dispose of my old garage door?
Yes. Removal and disposal of the old door and its hardware are part of the job, so you are not left with a door panel on the driveway or a trip to the dump.
Can I keep my existing garage door opener with a new door?
Often, if the opener is in good condition and rated for the weight and travel of the new door. A heavier or taller door may exceed what the existing opener can safely move, and in that case we will tell you rather than install a door the opener cannot handle.
Will a new garage door reduce my energy costs?
An insulated door can make a difference on a garage that is attached to living space or that houses a conditioned room, because it reduces heat transfer through the largest opening in the house. The size of that benefit depends on the door you choose, the insulation of the rest of the garage and how the space is used, so we describe the options rather than promising a figure.
